Damien Leith celebrates the best of his career alongside a lush string quartet

The Best Of Damien Leith with String Quartet

1599

Singer-songwriter Damien Leith has always loved a strings section, so when it came to showcasing the hits spanning his 12-year career, the concept of taking out a string quartet on the road with him was one too good to miss. With a voice that has been described as both ‘powerful’ and ‘angelic’ in the same sentence, there is no finer way to showcase that sound than with the beauty of a string quartet.

Celebrating the best of his nine albums – as well as a handful of previously unheard original songs from Damien’s forthcoming new album due out mid-year – The Best of Damien Leith with String Quartet is a concert experience not to be missed. There are a swag of great songs to choose from Damien’s revered back catalogue – The Winners Journey, Where We Land, Catch The Wind – Songs Of A Generation, Remember June, Roy – A Tribute To Roy Orbison, Now & Then, Chapter Seven, Songs from Ireland and Gospel – so audiences are in for an evening to remember.

Damien is looking forward to taking this special tour out on the road. “It’ll be the first time that I’ve toured with a quartet so I’m pretty excited,” he says. “Also, the arrangements by Jessica Graham are phenomenal. Jessica was a recent winner in both International and UK songwriting contests and is a highly sought-after arranger.”

Damien’s long-time band members will also be joining him on the tour – bringing the total of seven musicians on stage. With the strictly limited run of dates, the show will traverse hits such as Hallelujah, Crying and American Trilogy to name a few, in amongst a collection of well-known songs and original compositions. Damien will also showcase material from his new forthcoming album for audiences – a sneak peek as this will be the first time those songs have been heard outside of the studio.

“I think all of the music I do lends itself really well to a string quartet sound,” says Damien. “It is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I have never actually performed with strings, so it is going to be really exciting. Audiences get to hear all those songs with all their beauty. One of my main loves is orchestration, it is one of the things I spend time doing in the studio – orchestration for movies and tv pieces. I love that strings sound.”

Damien Leith’s shows are always intimate, personable and most of all filled with world-class music. Tickets to The Best of Damien Leith with String Quartet are on sale now.
