Friday 1st & Saturday 2nd June 2018
Over the last few years, The Reef Hotel Casino has gone all out in its celebrations of the Professional Bull Riders [PBR] event in the North, and the 2018 return of the Reef Stampede promises to be no different. Get your cowboy boots on, grab your Akubra and get ready to get your toes tapping – and a little bit of a boot scooting – for two massive hoedown nights this June with national touring artists Hurricane Fall and Golden Guitar finalist Casey Barnes.
The annual Reef Stampede celebrates its fourth year at The Reef Hotel Casino, and its second in its home at BAR36. The official partnership between the Casino and the PBR has seen massive celebrations in the complex and 2018 promises to be no different. The venue is always swamped with country music fans, from the cruisy afternoon hoedown, to the continued party into the early hours. PBR fans get a special, exclusive meet-and-greet with the cowboys of the PBR and the party just keeps going. After an incredible response to Hurricane Fall’s headline shows last year, the band return for a country extravaganza.
Hurricane Fall are the cool dudes of country music. With their rock edge country sound, the Tamworth-born-and-raised and Newcastle-based outfit smashed their way onto the country music charts with the release of their debut self-titled EP in 2016, searing their way onto the iTunes Country Music Chart at #2. They’ve already been turning heads with their live shows, having supported local favourite Troy Kemp around the traps, as well as Canadian country luminary Codie Prevost at his 2015 Tamworth Country Music Festival shows. Their 2018 Tamworth Country Music Festival show at the revered The Longyard pulled one of the biggest crowds and earned them a swag of new fans. They have a sound that is hard to define, it is raw with talent and hard work.
Casey Barnes is already making a big impression on the country music scene, as demonstrated by his 2018 Golden Guitar nomination. He kicked off his career in his home state of Tasmania, before relocating to the Gold Coast. Already he has had hit songs in America, performed alongside international stars such as Mariah Carey, Lady Antebellum and Bryan Adams, as well as appeared on TV back home in Australia. Unsurprisingly, Casey is also a festival favourite. He performed at the Country Summer festival in California, as well as Australian events such as Caloundra Music Festival, Broadbeach Country Music Festival, Urban Country Music Festival, the Gympie Muster and A Day On The Green. Most recently, his 2017 single Keep Me Coming Back hit #1 on the Australian Country Tracks Top 40 Chart, and peaked in the Top 10 iTunes Hot Tracks chart in North America. He has a long association with PBR Australia and will certainly wow North Queensland audiences this June.
The Reef Stampede is held across Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd June 2018, kicking off from 7pm and 9pm respectively. There is live music throughout the Casino complex nightly, including prizes and giveaways. Entertainment continues late each night with the Big Noize Cowboyz. *** Live at the Casino shows in BAR36 are non-ticketed shows.
