They’ve been delving into their dark side with their acclaimed Bat Out Of Hell shows, and now revered Aussie band Chocolate Starfish are getting ready to party as they head North for a one night only performance at BAR36 on Friday the 13th.. Chocolate Starfish are a larger than life band. With an enviable back catalogue and a rockin’ live show, jam-packed with crazy antics, all brought to life thanks to enigmatic frontman Adam Thompson, and an evening in the company of Chocolate Starfish is without doubt, unforgettable. It’s been four years since the band graced the stage at The Reef Hotel Casino, so it is high time they are back – and what better night to return than a black Friday!

In 2014 the band performed a one-off concert in Melbourne on Halloween – Chocolate Starfish presents Bat Out Of Hell in Concert – showcasing their interpretation of the Meatloaf classic to audiences. It was a hit and their subsequent shows under the same guise have earned them much acclaim. Of course, no show would be complete without their own hits, and the band never leave fans disappointed. Their upcoming show in Cairns may even feature a track or two from their Meatloaf inspired concert, just to get in the spirit of things, being Friday the 13th and all!

Once you have experienced Chocolate Starfish in concert, it isn’t hard to understand why they have the reputation as one of the best live bands on the scene today. Their shows are all about the music and they don’t apologise for rockin’ hard – and loud – and all over the stage! They arrived smack bang in the middle of the grunge scene of the 1990s and refused to fit the mould. They had their own sound and their own direction; and this individualistic attitude earned them respect far and wide, something they’ve kept alive ever since.

Across their career, Chocolate Starfish had six top 40 singles and two top 10 albums on the Australian charts, gold and platinum record sales and an ARIA for Most Popular Album. Their debut album entered the charts at #2 and the band hit the road, touring incessantly, resulting in the phrase ‘Australia’s hardest working band’ being coined about their dedication to touring. They disbanded in 1998 but left an indelible print on the Aussie music scene and ingrained themselves in local music history.

Chocolate Starfish were recognisable from Adam Thompson’s outrageous appearance and persona, and their tight rockin’ songs. The band was made up of some of Victoria’s best musicians and it was evident with their live shows. There was a chemistry in the songwriting, and even when they recorded covers, Chocolate Starfish put a slant all of their own on the material. Their singles Four Letter Word, Mountain and You’re So Vain are still played on radio regularly today ensuring that Chocolate Starfish has never left the memories of Aussie rock fans.
