Festival sells out in advance for a fifth year in a row
The highly anticipated ONE ELECTRIC DAY festival – slated for Sunday 26th November 2017 at Werribee Park on the Great Lawn – has sold out on the day tickets went on sale. In a first for the Aussie music festival, the event sold out in three minutes. Tickets went on sale at 9am this morning. This year’s event features an enviable line-up of Australian rock royalty, with headliner John Farnham, and special guests Daryl Braithwaite, Baby Animals, Diesel and 1927.
Celebrating its fifth year in 2017, ONE ELECTRIC DAY has already earned a reputation for selling out well in advance, with the 2016 event selling out only a matter of days after going on sale. Last week ONE ELECTRIC DAY released a limited number of pre-sale tickets to Frontier Touring and Ticketmaster members, with the allocation being exhausted before the end of the week.
Promoter Duane McDonald says the response to the 2017 event has been overwhelming. “When John Farnham headlined ONE ELECTRIC DAY in 2015, we sold out in under three weeks,” he says. “We knew there was considerable hype around this year’s line-up. To sell-out in three minutes is an amazing achievement for the festival.”
ONE ELECTRIC DAY launched in 2013 and has become a highlight on the annual festival calendar for November. The brainchild of Duane – who heads up Regional Touring, the company responsible for the annual Red Hot Summer Tour – ONE ELECTRIC DAY was designed to bring the good old values of Aussie music festivals back to the outskirts of Melbourne.
“We wanted a homegrown festival that the music loving public could look forward to each year,” he says. “The Victorian community have embraced ONE ELECTRIC DAY. We start getting queries about the date of the next year’s event the day after each festival. We see some of the same faces attending year after year. Friends and families make ONE ELECTRIC DAY a planned annual catch-up. It is an honour to be integrated into people’s lives in this way.
