When it comes to launching a country album, it doesn’t get much bigger than kicking off the party at Tamworth Country Music Festival and that’s exactly what powerhouse songstress Jess Holland has planned! Releasing her third long-player – Miss Demeanour – on the first day of the festival, Friday 19th January, Jess is gearing up for a jam-packed week celebrating the release that has been a labour of love for the past few years.
“This album has been a long time coming, so I wanted to make sure it was released at a big event,” says Jess. “Tamworth is perfect, it is such a massive week for me and it gives plenty of people the opportunity hear the new album live.”
And in true Jess Holland style, Miss Demeanour is one big album. It not only showcases her killer vocals, but also a mature songwriting style that effortlessly moves between bluesy numbers, rockabilly, soaring ballads and songs with a hell of a swagger. The first single from the album, Linburn Lane, landed at radio in early 2017 and was a perfect introduction to what audiences could expect. The album’s second single – Australian Dreamer – will hit the airwaves on the day of the album’s release.
Jess has pulled together a massive album launch for her first full band show at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, kicking off the week how she plans to go on – celebrating the best release of her career. She says she can’t wait to get on stage and share some of the new material with country music fans on Saturday 20th January at the Tudor. “It will be an exciting night,” she says. “I will have the full band, showcasing some very talented musicians. I also have some very special guests to help me launch the album – Brock Henry from Newcastle and Kahlia Martin from Cobar will be among the artists showcasing their talents on the night. It will be one big celebration, and very relaxed – just a night of music, friends and fun.”
The 2018 festival will also see Jess join a few different bands for a handful of showcases and events throughout the week. The accomplished singer-songwriter says this is one of the things she looks forward to the most each year. “For me, Tamworth is not just about performing,” she says. “It is also about meeting new people and artists you haven’t met before, catching up with mates you haven’t seen since last year and enjoying great live music.”
Jess’ forthcoming album is what great music is all about. There is little doubt that Jess Holland is one of the best vocalists on the scene today, and Miss Demeanour only goes further to cement that. Proudly Australian – and proudly country – the album showcases what is great about our industry, and about the incredible talent of hard-working musicians like Jess. Since her debut offering Introducing… Jess Holland in 2011, this singer-songwriter has evolved into more than just an artist to watch, she is a formidable force. Her second offering, Whole Lot To Say (released in 2014) was Jess stepping out – standing up for what she believed in – and making people sit up and listen. Miss Demeanour is going to smack people straight in the face, strap them in their chairs and show them what awesome music is all about.
Australian Dreamer, the next single from the long-player, will hit the airwaves the day the album is released, and only goes further to prove Jess’ songwriting prowess. It is the epitome of what the album – and what Jess Holland as a singer, songwriter and performer is all about – and the perfect release to embrace in the lead-up to Australia Day. “It’s about the hard-working Australian culture that keeps our country churning,” says Jess. “We all work and build dreams for a better future for ourselves and our families, and I think that’s definitely something we can all relate to, no matter where you live, or how much you earn.”
Don’t miss Jess Holland when she launches Miss Demeanour at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2018. The single Australian Dreamer hits radio on January 19, 2018. Jess Holland’s third album Miss Demeanour is released independently on Friday 19th January 2018.
