The Queen of Discotheque returns for a night of boogie fever and Victorian audiences better have their dancing shoes at the ready! Marcia Hines is gearing up for two very special performances, sharing with audiences all the glamour of her career – with a spectacular stage performance featuring special guest singers, dancers and musicians, audiences can experience all the glitter and fun of the disco era in one massive party evening!

When you think Australian disco star, Marcia Hines is at the very top. She is revered as one of Australia’s most beloved female performers and with an illustrious career spanning almost five decades, it’s not hard to see why. She has released 22 albums, sold 3.6 million copies and has more chart-topping singles than you can count, as well as multi-platinum selling records. Add to that fact that she’s the first – and only – Australian female artist to have seven consecutive Top 20 album releases, and it is evident why she is considered a legend.

Marcia launched her Australian music career as the youngest cast member in the musical Hair in 1970, making the move from Boston in the USA. Her role turned heads immediately and she was then cast in the iconic 1970s stage production of Jesus Christ Superstar as lead Mary Magdalene. At the culmination of Superstar, she toured with the Daly-Wilson Big Band jazz orchestra before signing a record deal in 1974.

Her debut solo single – a cover of James Taylor’s Fire and Rain – marked the start of a truly incredible career. In 2007 Marcia was inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame for her incredible body of work, and in 2009 was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia. Throughout her career she has continued to record and tour, but also mentor up-and-coming artists, and was a judge on Australia Idol for seven consecutive years. Outside of her music, she is a philanthropist, working with the community through a variety of charity organisations and advocating ceaselessly for diabetes.

For audiences who have had the privilege of spending an evening in her company before, they will be well aware that any Marcia Hines concert is a party experience and one not to miss. There will be dancing. There will be singing. It is fun from the moment you step in the door. So, get your dancing shoes ready and grab your tickets because the Queen of Discotheque is coming to town!
