Taxiride frontman Jason Singh is heading to the Far North for two special solo shows ahead of the band’s performances in town next month. Jason will be sharing his repertoire with audiences at the end of August – 30 & 31 – showcasing why he is revered for his energetic power-packed performances and helping kick off the celebrations of the Targa Great Barrier Reef at BAR36. His last shows at The Reef Hotel Casino four years ago were packed out and these ones promise to be no different.

Outside of the impressive accolades he has shared with Taxiride, Jason has carved out an impressive international solo career that has seen him share stages with the likes of Tina Turner, Matchbox 20, Train, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Snoop Dogg and Australia’s own rock legend, Jimmy Barnes. He has already celebrated two Top 10 ARIA club hits with The World As You Know It and One World. In 2013 he released his highly anticipated solo album Humannequin, which was produced by Charles Fisher, an album that put Jason on the map for his solo performances.

In 2015 came The Jason Singh Project – a lofty goal to release six singles across 12-months, each written and produced by Jason. It was something he achieved effortlessly, releasing a single every eight-weeks from his Melbourne home-based studio, each highlighting his songwriting nuance and versatility as a musician.

Fast forward to 2018 and Jason is working on a new direction, focusing on a departure from the power-synth pop sound of his past project and moving towards the adult contemporary space. His mantra is to be ‘completely vulnerable’ and it is showing in his songwriting.

The multi-award winning Taxiride were a force to be reckoned with. The band smashed onto the Australian music scene in the early 2000s and rapidly became a household name. With Top 5 ARIA platinum selling albums, six Top 40 ARIA singles and a plethora of rave reviews, the band toured massively throughout not only Australia, but also North America, Europe and Asia. Their hits, such as Get Set, Everywhere You Go, Creepin’ Up Slowly, Oh Yeah and You Gotta Help Me, have become ingrained in the Australian psyche.

Taxiride produced three highly acclaimed studio albums before taking a hiatus – Imaginate (1999), Garage Mahal (2002) and Axiomatic (2005) and the live album Electrophobia (2006). The band’s debut release Imaginate not only spawned Top 5 singles, but also earned them an ARIA for ‘Best New Artist. Their second long-player Garage Mahal landed in the Top 5 and saw the track Creepin’ Up Slowly named as the number one radio song for 2002. Their subsequent release saw the band tour further afield, continuing to amass a following both locally and overseas.

Jason Singh performs at BAR36 at The Reef Hotel Casino on Thursday 30th August from 8pm and Friday 31st August 2018 from 9pm to kick off the celebrations for Targa Great Barrier Reef. Entertainment continues on the Friday night with The Rockmans. BAR36 – TARGABAR – will be the official gathering point for the Targa Great Barrier Reef after party. *** Live at the Casino shows in BAR36 are non-ticketed shows.
